SHOCKING MYTH! You Don’t Need a Chart to Be an Astrologer

I used to think I needed a chart to get good at astrology, but here’s the game-changer I wish I knew sooner: WE CAN PRACTICE ASTROLOGY WITHOUT A CHART AND STILL BECOME A PRO!

In this post, I’m spilling the secret that took me from a burned-out 9-to-5 grind in LA to a confident astrologer working from home as a full time career. You’ll learn how to ditch the charts, tap into astrology’s storytelling magic, and build the skills to go pro—faster than you ever thought possible. Ready to unlock your astrology dreams? Let’s dive in.

When I was hurting my body and soul, working hard for other people and their dreams, I would always  dream of something bigger—like becoming a professional astrologer. But I was always too busy to practice. Classes were expensive, took forever, and most of the free info online was conflicting and confusing. It left me feeling hopeless, like I’d never get there.

What I’ve learned—and what I teach my students in my Confident Astrology School—TRANSFORMED ME FROM CONFUSED TO CONFIDENT. It’s helped me work from home as a professional astrologer, making an income doing what I love. And it’s what I’m sharing with you today.

Debunking the Biggest Astrology Myth

Let me debunk one of the biggest myths in astrology: that we need a chart to practice or give a confident reading to a client. Seriously, to get better at astrology and move closer to going pro, I FOUND I DON’T NEED A CHART AT ALL.

Why? Because I realized astrology is storytelling—the most ancient art and science of it.

Think about it: when we are in an astrology session with a client are they paying us because they enjoy stressing out  over complex math, aspects, or nuances? No, they are looking for a story. A simple story to get them through a tough day, week, or year. A story that gives them hope that something better is waiting. A story that shows them how to find the career they want, the love they need, or the happiness they deserve.

The 12 Stories of Astrology

As astrologers, we tell the same 12 stories over and over, just in infinite combinations. Whether it’s a birth chart, transit chart, full moon, eclipse, retrograde, or stellium, THESE STORIES AND ENERGIES NEVER CHANGE. They’re as constant as the ground beneath our feet or the sky above our head.

Mars always carries the energy of Mars—the warrior of Aries, the angel of death in Scorpio—no matter what house or sign it’s in. The 10th house always vibes with the energy of Capricorn, the 10th sign of the zodiac. It’s about the long, hard climb, like a mountain, where we delay short-term pleasure for long-term stability and satisfaction. Once we understand the energy of the 10th house, we never forget it. It’s the same story, no matter what chart we are reading.

It is our job as astrologers to REMIND our clients that they already know these stories and how to use the lessons from them to GET WHAT THEY WANT!

My 12-Story Method

I teach my students what I call the 12-Story Method. By looking at the numerology of the story I’m exploring, I get clues about what prediction to share. For example, the 5th house, the 5th sign (Leo), the 5th aspect (trine), and the Sun (which rules Leo) all tell the 5th story of fun, creativity, and children. The 3rd house, the 3rd sign (Gemini), the 3rd aspect (sextile), and Mercury (which rules Gemini) all tell the 3rd story of chaos, learning, and silly cat videos on TikTok.

Like chefs, we take these stories and ingredients and BLEND THEM INTO A UNIQUE RECIPE, depending on the planet, house, and sign. Pro tip: the planet and house carry the most weight—they’re the biggest flavors in the recipe. Sometimes, we don’t even need the sign, as it can confuse the client.

How to Practice Astrology Without a Chart

Here are my pro tips for practicing astrology using this story-based method, no chart required.

Pro Tip 1: Ditch the Chart Myth

First, I let go of the myth that I need a chart, computer, or app to practice astrology. THAT’S NOT HOW OUR ANCESTORS DID IT!

They wove astrology into their daily lives, working with these energies naturally. When they planted crops to ensure fertile ground, they called on the 2nd story of Venus and Taurus, praying to the goddess of fertility with flowers, music, and pleasure. When they focused on keeping babies healthy, they invoked the 4th story of Cancer and the Moon, honoring the power of softness with milk, pearls, and silver.

I call this the Crocodile Hunter Style, inspired by Steve Irwin. He didn’t become an amazing biologist by reading about crocodiles on a computer. He immersed himself in their story, listening to their nature. When I chain myself to a chart or app, I give my power away. By using this Crocodile Hunter Style, I empower myself to practice astrology in my everyday life.

Pro Tip 2: Play the “What’s the Story?” Game

In my daily spiritual practice, I commit myself to playing the “What’s the Story?” game, where a story a day keeps ignorance away. Since these 12 stories exist in daily life, I challenge myself to spot one and, if possible, share its wisdom with someone.

For example, if I overhear a friend talking about an ex they keep going back to, even though they fight constantly, I recognize the 2nd story of Taurus, which rules pleasure. It’s like something delicious that’s hard to give up, even if it’s painful. I might say, “Wow, that’s like a bee to honey!” and share the story’s wisdom.

Or, if I’m in the park during autumn and see trees shedding leaves, I see the 8th story of Scorpio, which rules death that creates life. I might tell someone, “Just like those trees dropping their leaves, we all have old thoughts, behaviors, and baggage we need to release for new life to blossom, like a phoenix from the flames.”

Pro Tip 3: LISTEN!

Unconfident astrologers send most the reading talking over their client and shoving their opinions and advice down their throat.  BUT, A 10/10 astrology reading with a client doesn’t happen when we discover some hidden secret in their chart or predict some mind blowing event that comes true, it happens WHEN WE LISTEN TO THEIR STORIES AND REFLECT THEM BACK.

Astrology is just like being a health chef where we have to cook a meal for our client that they are ready to digest. By listening to their story, we then identify it’s nature just like the Crocodile Hunter with our 12 story method and then serve them the story back with an analogy or metaphor they are ready to digest.

Seriously, try it next time and you may be surprised how well it works.
